Writing Prompt – Retired Special Ops

I don’t even know what to think of this one. It definitely seems like the character in this prompt is an anti-hero. As I have never been in the military, I don’t know what it’s like to return to civilian life. I am pretty sure that being bored with life is not an excuse to try and see who is a better killer between you and a hired hitman.

Personally, I haven’t the slightest clue how to access the dark web. I know it exists and that at least some of the stuff on there is stuff that probably is bad, but that’s really all I know.

The idea that you could hire a hitman on the dark web does not give me a better impression of it. If someone was to take this prompt and write a story about it, they would probably have to do some research about the dark web and know what kind of stuff you can find on there, because it’s likely to come up, if not in actual conversation then in inner monologue for the main character.

Hiring a hitman is not an okay form of entertainment. It doesn’t say what the character does with the hitman the fail. They can’t very well put them in jail for trying to kill them without getting themselves into trouble as well since they are the ones who hired them. It is possible that they might find some other way to put them in jail. It’s also possible that the situation is supposed to end in someone’s death. Depending on the method the hitman uses to kill, it’s entirely possible that they may have to get in close enough that the main character can try and kill them back, maybe using the same method.

It seems to me that there are much better ways of alleviating boredom. If he’s capable of finding hitmen, maybe he should work as a consultant for the police and for a rush look to extreme sports or something. What do you think? Would this be a worthwhile prompt to write a story for? How would you use it if you did write a story with it?
